At what age can my infant travel?
Travel is not recommended for infants within 7 days of birth. Before departure, check that your infant has all the documents required by the police, customs and immigration services of the destination country. It is your responsibility to check their validity date and to note the sometimes long delay in obtaining them.
What does UM mean?
UM is an abbreviation for Unaccompanied Minor, referring to a child who is traveling alone. When a child travels alone, an Air France guardian provides continuous supervision throughout the entire trip as part of our Kids Solo service.
Can a mentally ill child travel unaccompanied?
Children 12 years and over and on direct flights in Continental France may travel unaccompanied with the authorization of our medical service. For all other flights your child must be accompanied by an adult. Any child under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
Can an unaccompanied child receive assistance?
Metropolitan France and French overseas departments and collectivities Children between 4 and 11 years of age* who are traveling alone receive supervision as part of our Kids Solo service. Adolescents between 12 and 17 years of age who are traveling alone can also receive Air France assistance by request. An extra fee applies in this case. * from 5 to 11 years of age on all flights to and from Nouméa International flights Children between 5 and 14 years of age who are traveling alone benefit from our Kids Solo service. Adolescents between 15 and 17 years of age can also receive Air France assistance upon request. An extra fee applies in this case.
Can an unaccompanied minor bring an animal on board?
A child traveling alone can certainly bring a cat or dog along, as long as the rules regarding animals in the cabin are respected. Please note: if you are booking a flight for an unaccompanied minor on our website, choose the "pay by telephone" option and contact us within 24 hours before the child's flight to let us know if your child will be bringing an animal.
